9am- 1pm. What could be more pleasant than a visit, on the third Saturday of the month, to Okehampton's St James Chapel Square? There you will find the Okehampton Farmers' Market. The array of consumables is guaranteed to tantalise even the most widely travelled palate. Your next meal could be bought entirely from the producers at the market. Whether you prefer Friend's Quality Beef and Lamb, Evergreen’s pork, chicken or rose veal or Hamilton’s fresh fish brought up from Brixham. Cook together with organic vegetables from Moon Farm or Hallwood’s wide selection of seasonal vegetables you will have the perfect main course. Sue's Farmhouse cooking will have the ‘afters’ with a choice of cakes, scones and pies topped off with the Gilead Foundations cream. Gratton and Oldridge's traditionally made fruity jams and jellies are ideal as accompaniments Perhaps a selection of Curworthy's yogurts and cheeses or the speciality cheeses made by cheesemaker Vera of Trukkles to finish the meal. In the warmer weather the thought of eating out comes to mind, here too the market offers a superb range of picnic food. Farmhouse Pasties & Pies have a wide range of ready to eat pasties & pies, Sue Madge has quiches, or select cheeses from our cheesemakers and tangy full flavoured chutneys from Gratton and Oldridge Preserves. The Devonshire Food Company offer the visitor ready made tasty meals for a delicious treat. We also have award winning Free range eggs from Janet and Tim of Brook Farm and organics eggs from Moon Farm. BlackAller Apiary produces honey from wildflowers and Dartmoor heather.
